The site uses the browser's local storage (localStorage), not cookies, only to make its features work. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
In particular, these stay on your device: the chosen language, the items in "My trip" and the notes in "Where I've been" (places, dates, ratings and private reviews). We do not read them and you can delete them at any time from those pages or by clearing browser data.
These are strictly technical tools: no consent banner is needed. You can delete them at any time from your browser settings (site data).
The “My trip” exports (calendar, Excel, PDF) are created in your browser and do not pass through us.
To know how many people visit the site and which pages they read, we use GoatCounter (goatcounter.com), an analytics service designed to respect privacy. It uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
Because we cannot trace these data back to you, no consent banner is needed. If you prefer not to be counted, you can block the script with your browser's privacy settings or an extension that blocks trackers.
The site's fonts are hosted on the site itself: they are not downloaded from external services.
The site is published through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), which also manages the domain name. To deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse and attacks, Cloudflare processes on our behalf your IP address, request date and time, requested page and browser type, and keeps them only as long as strictly necessary. The legal basis is the controller's legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR). Data may also be processed in the United States: Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses the EU standard contractual clauses.
At the moment the site contains no affiliate links or advertising. If any are added in future, we will say so here and next to the links, naming the partners involved and any cookies they set after the click.
Under EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability of your data and object to processing, by writing to info@palermobyheart.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (garanteprivacy.it).
If the site changes (for example by adding advertising or other analytics tools) we will update this page before activating the change, and ask for consent where required.
